Immune Health

The immune system plays a central role in overall health, and it's connected to far more than just how often you catch a cold. Immune function is closely tied to inflammation, gut health, skin health, hormones, energy, stress resilience, recovery, and nervous system regulation.

My approach to immune health is comprehensive and evidence-informed, looking at the underlying factors that may be contributing to immune dysfunction or chronic inflammation rather than just addressing symptoms as they show up.

Whether you're dealing with frequent illness, fatigue, post-viral symptoms, recurrent infections, allergies, inflammation, sinus issues, gut symptoms, or slow recovery, I look at the body as a whole rather than treating each symptom in isolation.

Common signs the immune system may need support

  • Frequent colds or infections

  • Getting sick easily during colder months

  • Slow recovery from illness

  • Fatigue and burnout

  • Post-viral symptoms

  • Recurrent sinus issues

  • Inflammation

  • Brain fog

  • Allergies and histamine-related symptoms

  • Eczema, acne, or skin flare-ups

  • Bloating, IBS, or other digestive symptoms

  • Food sensitivities

  • Stress-related health issues

  • Poor sleep and recovery

Many of these symptoms are interconnected and often influenced by gut health, stress, nutrition, inflammation, sleep quality, and nervous system function, which is part of why I look across systems rather than at any one symptom alone.

Seasonal and preventative immune support

Cold and flu season is a common time for people to think more actively about immune resilience, particularly with repeated exposure to viruses, disrupted sleep, and higher stress overall. Many patients choose to work with me proactively going into the colder months, as part of a preventative approach for themselves and their family.

Preventative naturopathic care may help support:

  • Immune resilience through the colder months

  • Energy and recovery

  • Stress resilience

  • Gut health and microbiome balance

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Healthy sleep

  • Inflammation management

  • Overall wellness and vitality

Gut health and the immune system

A significant portion of the immune system is connected to the gut, which is part of why I commonly look at digestive health alongside immune function. Many patients with immune-related symptoms are also dealing with:

  • Bloating

  • IBS

  • Constipation or diarrhea

  • Reflux

  • Food sensitivities

  • Candida or yeast overgrowth

  • Parasite-related symptoms

  • SIBO

  • Skin inflammation

My approach

Every immune case starts with a thorough look at your medical history, events around onset, current symptoms, gut health, stress load, sleep, diet, and any prior testing or illness patterns. From there, I build a personalized plan that may include:

  • Nutritional support for immune function, including key nutrients like Vitamin D, Vitamin A, zinc, and Vitamin C

  • Herbal medicine to support immune resilience and recovery or allergy support

  • Inflammation-focused and probiotic dietary guidance

  • Nervous system and stress support, given its close relationship with immune regulation

  • Sleep support, since recovery and immune function are closely linked

  • Practitioner-grade supplementation where appropriate

The goal is always to understand what's actually contributing to how your immune system is functioning, and to build a plan around that rather than a generic seasonal protocol.
