Men's Health

I take a comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to men's health, focused on identifying and addressing what's actually driving a symptom rather than just managing it on the surface.

Many of the men I see are dealing with ongoing fatigue, gut issues, skin concerns, weight changes, brain fog, poor recovery, libido changes or metabolic shifts often while continuing to push through demanding work and family schedules. In my experience, men tend to push through symptoms longer than they probably should, which means by the time they come in, there's often meaningful ground to cover. My goal is to work through that efficiently, with proper testing and a clear plan rather than guesswork.

I combine personalized naturopathic and nutritional medicine with functional testing to build a plan based on what's actually happening in your body, not a generic protocol.

Areas I commonly support

Gut health. Gut health is one of the more overlooked areas of men's health. Bloating, reflux, IBS, irregular bowel habits, food intolerances, and ongoing digestive discomfort are common, and all have real, addressable contributors. What's less often recognized is how much gut dysfunction can affect energy, skin, mood, weight, immunity, and even testosterone.

Fatigue and energy. Persistent fatigue is one of the more common reasons men come to see me, and one of the more commonly dismissed, being told your bloodwork is normal when you feel exhausted is frustrating and not particularly helpful. I use testing to identify the specific contributors in each case: thyroid function, nutrient status, cortisol patterns, gut health, insulin sensitivity, and more. See the Fatigue, Brain Fog & Low Energy page for the fuller picture.

Weight and metabolism. Weight changes in men, particularly abdominal fat accumulation, are rarely just about calories in and out. Insulin resistance, cortisol patterns, thyroid function, gut imbalance, poor sleep, and chronic inflammation can all contribute to metabolic dysfunction that makes weight management genuinely harder regardless of effort. I look at the specific metabolic drivers for each patient rather than a standard weight-loss approach. See the Cardiometabolic Health page for more on this.

Skin health. Skin conditions in men are frequently connected to internal factors, gut dysbiosis, candida overgrowth, systemic inflammation, insulin resistance, nutrient status, stress, and alcohol intake can all show up on the skin. Topical treatment addresses the surface; I focus on what may be driving it from within. This commonly includes acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Stress, sleep, and nervous system health. Chronic stress, poor sleep, and nervous system dysregulation are significant contributors to men's health concerns overall, affecting weight, gut function, immunity, skin, cognitive performance, and recovery. My approach looks at the physiological drivers behind stress and sleep disruption, not just general lifestyle tips.

Autoimmunity and immune health. Chronic inflammation and immune dysregulation can affect energy, digestion, skin, recovery, and overall quality of life. Because a significant portion of the immune system is housed in the gut, microbiome health is usually a central part of how I approach immune and autoimmune concerns. See my Autoimmunity page for more.

Thyroid health. Thyroid dysfunction in men is often underdiagnosed, partly because it's assumed to be primarily a women's health issue. Hypothyroidism, subclinical thyroid dysfunction, and Hashimoto's all occur in men too, and can meaningfully affect energy, weight, mood, cognitive function, and metabolic health. See my Thyroid Health page for more detail.

Hormone Testing

  • Free and Total Testosterone, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin, DHEA-S

  • Progesterone, Estradiol, LH, FSH

  • Cortisol patterns across the day (4-point saliva testing and CAR)

  • Thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4, reverse T3, antibodies)

  • Insulin and metabolic markers

My approach

Every plan is personalized to the individual. Your consultation may include a comprehensive case assessment, review of symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and health history, functional testing, gut microbiome testing where relevant, nutritional guidance, herbal medicine, practitioner-grade supplements where appropriate, nervous system and lifestyle support, and ongoing review as your plan progresses.

Many of the men I work with want practical, structured guidance and a clear understanding of what may be contributing to how they feel, not vague lifestyle advice or a stack of supplements without a reason behind them. My approach is test-informed and built around actually finding what's going on, not just managing symptoms indefinitely.
